SSAS Golf outings in May and June
The Singapore St Andrew’s Society golf community has enjoyed another excellent couple of months on the fairways, with successful outings in both May and June bringing together members and friends for good (and well some not-so-good) golf, great company and plenty of laughs.
May – Batam Hills Golf Resort
22 golfers, 1 great day out!
Our May outing saw our golfers make the short journey across the water to Batam Hills Golf Resort playing a 4-ball Texas Scramble with prizes for Winning team, Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive.
We had our biggest turn out in years with 22 golfers turning up, thanks to the now familiar package, combining convenient ferry transfers, express immigration, caddies and buggies, it was all about good golf, great company and zero hassle for our players.
June – Return to Palm Springs
Following the success of the May event, SSAS returned to Palm Springs Golf Resort on Sunday, 21 June for another day on the fairways.
Ten golfers made the trip to Nongsa, once again taking advantage of the popular golf package that has made Batam an ideal destination for Society outings. This time it was a Stableford format, providing a fair and enjoyable competition for players across a range of handicaps.
The course once again delivered an enjoyable test, with immaculate fairways, challenging greens and the ever-present coastal breeze adding an extra dimension to shot selection. Adding extra excitement to the day were four Nearest the Pin competitions – as always, these competitions generated plenty of friendly rivalry, with players eagerly measuring up their efforts and comparing tales of near misses.
Looking Ahead
The continued popularity of the SSAS golf outings shows there is a strong appetite for regular golfing events and we look forward to welcoming both returning golfers and new faces at future outings in the months ahead.
If you’ve yet to join one of our golf days, join our Whatsapp Community and Whatsapp Golf Group. Whether you’re a low-handicap golfer or simply enjoy a good walk interrupted by occasional shots, you’ll receive a warm Scottish welcome on the first tee.
Until then, may your drives be straight, your putts be true and your golf stories only slightly exaggerated. ⛳
