SSAS Whisky Club launches
The Singapore St Andrew’s Society is delighted to announce the official launch of the SSAS Whisky Club, bringing together members with a shared passion for Scotland’s national drink and the rich stories, heritage and craftsmanship that sit behind every dram.
For our inaugural event, we were thrilled to partner with La Maison du Whisky Singapore, who hosted us for an evening of discovery, conversation and exceptional whisky.
Our members were joined by Douglas Cook, Brand Ambassador for Elixir Distillers, who led a guided tasting of the acclaimed Port Askaig Islay Collection. Throughout the evening, Douglas shared insights into the character of Islay whiskies, the unique influence of the island’s landscape, and the history behind the Port Askaig range. From smoky and maritime notes to the complexity and balance found across the collection, attendees enjoyed a fascinating journey through one of Scotland’s most celebrated whisky-producing regions
Adding to the excitement, guests were also given an exclusive preview of the latest expression from Tormore Distillery. As one of Speyside’s most distinctive distilleries, Tormore has generated considerable interest among whisky enthusiasts, and members were delighted to be among the first to sample this new release and hear the story behind it.
Beyond the whisky itself, the evening captured exactly what the Whisky Club is all about: bringing people together in a relaxed and welcoming environment to learn, share experiences and enjoy good company. Whether members were seasoned collectors or simply curious to explore more of Scotland’s whisky heritage, the event provided an opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts and discover something new.
The strong turnout and enthusiastic feedback have already confirmed what we hoped from the outset: there is a real appetite within our community for whisky-focused events that combine expert insights with an enjoyable and social atmosphere.
A huge thank you goes to La Maison du Whisky Singapore for their partnership and hospitality, and to Douglas Cook for sharing his knowledge, expertise and passion with our members.
This is only the beginning for the SSAS Whisky Club. We are already planning our next tasting for October, with more opportunities to explore Scotland’s distilleries, discover outstanding whiskies and meet fellow enthusiasts.
If you would like to be part of future tastings and Whisky Club events, sign up as a member to join our dedicated WhatsApp community. Members of the group will receive advance notice of upcoming events, early access to registration and exclusive updates on future whisky experiences.
Slàinte to the start of an exciting new chapter for the Singapore St Andrew’s Society and our growing community of whisky lovers. We look forward to raising a glass with you again soon. 🥃
